“Domestication of Disability Law A Necessity”- ES, NCPWD, James Lalu

The Executive Secretary National Commission for Persons with Disabilities Mr.James David Lalu has assured that he is focused to ensuring that Disability Act is passed into law in all the States of the Federation as part of his commitment towards improving and developing the living standard of Persons with Disabilities in the Nation.

Lalu made this known recently during a visit by the Kogi State Inclusive Eye Health Project and Advocacy Team to his office at Raph Shodeinde Street Abuja.

While addressing the delegation the ES revealed that the Commission will embark on an Advocacy visit to Kogi State to parley with the leadership of the State on the way forward towards ensuring that rights and privileges of PWDs in the State are catered for.

He further assured that the domestication of the Disability Act as prompted by President Muhammadu Buhari has taken a central dimension and as such has become indispensable.

Earlier in her speech, the leader of the delegation Mrs Bilikisu Yakubu stated that the aim of Inclusive Eye Project is to pilot an inclusive health approach that will improve access to eye care services for Persons with Disabilities in Kogi State.

She added that the Project is also designed to engaged all Persons with Disabilities as stakeholders in the struggles against the discrimination of PWDs in Kogi State. She thanked the ES for the opportunity and audience given to the team at the Commission.
