New Year: Philanthropist Gifts Widows, Less Privileged

A Philanthropist, Chief Chinedu Nwadigwe, has distributed food items worth millions of naira to over 500 widows and less privileged drawn from various quarters of his community, Ukwulu, near Awka, the Anambra State Capital, to celebrate the new year.

Presenting the items which includes bags of rice and cash to the beneficiaries, the Benefactor, Chief Emeka Nwadigwe, that he was moved to demonstrate love and affection to his people in the spirit of the new year, which he believed would usher in unlimited favour and blessings to mankind.

President General of the community, Mr. Christopher Uba, who spoke on behalf of the donor said the gesture was aimed at touching the lives of the downtrodden this festive season.

The President General of the Community added that the gesture was also in fulfillment of his Foundation’s annual activities aimed at giving back to the society from his earnings.

“The benefactor has been putting smiles on the faces of both widows, persons with disabilities and aging people at the end of each year. 

“He also engages in youth and women empowerment by giving out little tokens to beneficiaries to start up small-scale business enterprises”, he stated.

The President General advised the beneficiaries not to forget the essence of the season, urging them to show love to one another and put smiles on as many faces as possible.

The community women leader, Lady Njideka Anusi, who also spoke during the distribution, called on governments and philanthropic organizations to make life more meaningful for the downtrodden, orphaned, widows, persons with disabilities and aged members of the society.

The beneficiaries whose joy knew no bound expressed their gratitude to the donor, saying that he has given them hope to celebrate the new year like other families across the globe and prayed that God will continue to protect and provide for the donor and his family.
