ES, NCPWD Mr. James Lalu visits Gov. Lalong on his birthday

THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY NCPWD, MR JAMES DAVID LALU PAYS A COURTESY VISIT TO HIS EXCELLENCY BARR. SIMON BAKO LALONG.

The Executive Secretary National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Mr. James Lalu and some of the management staff of the Commission and the Members of the Plateau State Disability Rights Commission, paid a thank you visit to His Excellency Barr. Simon Lalong, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, on the 6th day of May, 2021, at the Press Hall of the Governor’s Office , Jos Plateau State.

Mr. James Lalu as part of his continuous efforts to move the issues of Disability forward and while ensuring that the opportunity to occupy their pride of place in the scheme of things in the nation is non- negotiable, by not losing touch with what is good for the members of the Disability community, led his team and other stakeholders back to his root , where his Journey as a leader began.

The Executive Secretary, in the presence of all expressed his deepest gratitude to the Governor,  recalling the Governor’s Confidence on him James Lalu, and the Governor’s unrelenting efforts to ensuring that the Disability Community gets to the pinnacle of their dreams.

He on behalf of the 28 million Persons with Disabilities thanked  His Excellency, for showing so much commitment to the cause of Disability matters which prompted him to be the first to Domesticate the Disability Act by  Establishing  the Disability Rights Commission in Jos, Plateau State.

The Executive Secretary, NCPWD, went  further to plead with the Governor to use his good Office as the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum to appeal to his fellow Northern Governors to  domesticate the Act in  their  respective States .

The Governor in his response acknowledged the fact that Mr. Lalu is like a son to him, and lauded him for not disappointing the people of Plateau State who bestowed their trust and blessings on him, that he indeed has proven that he is a worthy Son of the soil and has not forgotten where he came from ,having come to say thank you.

He commended Mr. Lalu for his passion, commitment, high level of responsibility and dedication in the management of the affairs of Persons with Disabilities in Plateau State and now the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities. He said that he has always believed that Mr. Lalu has the capacity to deliver on the mandate of the Commission to over 28 million Persons with Disabilities.

He shared his experiences and how he developed a strong passion for Persons with Disabilities and how that has been complemented by the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs , Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq who is equally a passionate person that has paid a motherly role in the affairs of Persons with Disabilities in the country.

As she honoured his advice to let Mr. James Lalu to Pioneer the management of Commission, because he has a dream for the Disability Community and only a passionate person can drive the dream to its peak. 

His Excellency called the attention of everyone to the fact that anybody can become a person with Disability anytime, and it’s important for everyone to note  that when you prepare a conducive environment for Persons with Disabilities, you are preparing a place for yourself, on that note he promised Mr.  James Lalu that his plea has been granted, he will not be limited  to only the Northern Governor’s Forum, but also to the Nigerian Governor’s Forum and will also copy Mr. President on the letter stressing the need for the Governor’s to domesticate the Disability Rights Act 2018 in there various States.

The Executive Secretary, appreciated the Governor for his continuous efforts so far, while wishing His Excellency, a happy birthday and more fruitful years ahead, he used the opportunity of the visit to on behalf of the  Supervisory Ministry, Council Members,  the Commission and Disability Community to present  a birthday Cake to His Excellency, The Visit was sealed with a prayer by one of the Council Members Mrs. Esther Agulu.

The Thank you visit was also attended by the  Deputy Governor , Professor Sonni Gwanle Tyoden, some Commissioners and members of the State Executive team, a member of the Council of the NCPWD, Mrs. Esther Agulu, some management and staff of the NCPWD, the Chairman, Plateau State Disabilities Rights Commission, Kienan Mizim and her Members, APC party chieftains ,SA on Disability matters from Local Government Areas.
