EDSG Takes Advocacy On COVID-19 Vaccination To Grassroot

Following the recent global increase of coronavirus cases, according to World Health Organization record; the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency has taken the advocacy on covid-19 vaccination acrosss theĀ  18 LGA’s of the state.

According to World Health Organization(WHO), the number of new coronavirus cases rose by 18% in the last week, with more than 4.1 million cases reported globally.Ā Ā It was also recorded by WHO that theĀ  biggest weekly rise in the new COVID-19 cases was seen in the Middle East, where they increased by 47%, while infections rose by about 32% in Europe and Southeast Asia.


On this note, the Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Eloghosa Obarisiagbon gave the charge that proper awareness and sensitization be carried out across LGA’s on the need for Covid-19 vaccination.

Dr. Eloghosa assures that one dose of the Johnson and Johnson covid-19 vaccine confers full protection against coronavirus.
While on advocacy at Igueben, Community Dialogue meeting and Sensitization on Uptake of Covid19 vaccination, Lassa fever, Monkey pox and Routine Immunization was held with the Chief ONIHA, Edionweles, Community Leaders and women who were present at OKUTA Town Hall Ebelle Ward 6.Ā 

At Egor Local Government, residents were sensitized on the need to get vaccinated against the deadly coronavirus.

Speaking during the sensitisation exercise, theĀ  health educator officer for Egor local government, Mr. Omoregie Eghosa said that proper hand washing could reduce the chances of getting infected by communicable diseases such as Monkey pox and Covid-19.Ā 

At Iyekhei girls secondary school, students and staff were also sensitized on the preventive measures against communicable diseases and the need to keep personal hygiene so as to minimize the risk rate of getting infected.

The Executive Secretary therefore urge the general public to get vaccinated. Stressing that the vaccine has been made available at every primary Health centers across the state.
