JONAPWD Anambra under the leadership of Comr. Okeke Ugochukwu gave help to little Master Uzochukwu Ubah, 10years old and an indigent child with disability, who is a native of Aguleri but resides with his grandmother at Igbakwu Ayamelum LGA.
This boy was identify by one Mr. Dibor Chukwuebuka Sly, an indigene of Igbakwu, Ayamelum LGA during the burial ceremony he attended in his village.
Mr Dibor thinking what to do to assist the poor boy who begged for help decided to snap picture which he later made public through his Facebook page and pleaded for assistance on behalf of the boy.
The story of the boy began to change when Comr. Ugochukwu Okeke, the chairman, the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) Anambra State chapter saw the post on the Facebook and demand to see the boy for proper assessment and Mr Dibor who has determined to render help to the child brought him to JONAPWD Anambra State Secretariat on April 1st 2021 where Comr. Okeke Ugochukwu discovered that the immediate intervention the boy needs are a pair of armpit clutches and a school bag. He immediately consulted with the Exco members of the Association and got approval to provide the items to assist the child which was to the Glory of God a school bag and a pair of armpit clutches were provided during the association’s one day result tracking meeting with MDAs and relevant Service Providers on their commitments towards the implementation of Disability Rights Law 2018 at Choice hotel Awka yesterday 15/4/21.
During the presentation, the Comr. Okeke promised to visit the child school to ascertain its level of accessibility and charge the little boy to be serious with his studies promising him that the association will assist him secure scholarship if he remains serious with studies.
