By Osagie Otabor, Akure

In a bid to cure her son, Michael, of epilepsy, a woman Anike Adeyosoye, has given her poisonous chemical substances known as ‘Koikoi’.

Adeyosoye said it was somebody that told her that the substance cures epilepsy and her son would be free from the disease.

She said she has been taking care of Michael since he was 21 when the disease struck him.

The distraught mother said her son developed the illness after shouting in his sleep immediately he wrote NECO examination in 2007.

“After Michael was through with his NECO exam in 2007, while he was asleep in the night, he suddenly shouted from his sleep and since then he has been living with epilepsy.

“His situation is now a big problem and we have spent a lot on him with no result. The sickness had stopped him from going to work because of shame.

” I heard from somebody that poison can kill epilepsy and the child will be free from the sickness. So, I have a chemical substance at home and I used it for him.”

Instead of getting cure, Michael developed complications and was rushed to the hospital.

Father of the victim, Chief Felix Akolawole, who confirmed the situation, said he reported the case to Amotekun so that the mother would take proper care of the child in the hospital.

An operative of Ondo Amotekun Corps said the mother was temporarily released to take care of the child.
