Lagos, Nigeria – The Lagos State Government has been praised for its ongoing commitment to uplifting and empowering Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) through a series of transformative and human-focused initiatives. The recognition came during a heartwarming year-end gathering held at the Abayomi Finnih Recreational Park in Oregun, Lagos, where stakeholders, caregivers, and advocates for children with special needs gathered to celebrate a year of progress, compassion, and unwavering support from the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA).
The event, which was organized to honor children with special needs, caregivers, and organizations working tirelessly for the welfare of these children, saw an outpouring of gratitude from various stakeholders. Participants highlighted the tireless efforts of LASODA in championing the cause of disability inclusion in the state.

The event was also a celebration of the Lagos State Government’s proactive approach to engaging with stakeholders and promoting the welfare of PWDs through the THEMES Plus agenda, an initiative led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration. The policy framework focuses on promoting social inclusion, economic empowerment, and a more accessible society for all, especially for persons with disabilities.
The General Manager of LASODA, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, who was represented by the Director of Admin and Human Resources, Mrs. Omolade Sonubi, took the opportunity to reinforce the agency’s dedication to continuing its work in the coming year. We also have special gifts for the children to ensure they have fun and enjoy the moment,” she remarked.
A Joyful Occasion
