CSF launches Disability Impact Fund

Cedar Seed Foundation as part of their activities in commemoration of International Day for Persons With Disabilities On Monday in Abuja launched Disability Impact Fund.

The Executive Director, Cedar Seed Foundation (CSF) Lois Auta while addressing the press said that Disability Impact Fund will provide opportunity for the foundation to reach out to numerous persons with disabilities with challenges from the pool of funds through the initiative.

Speaking further, she said that the launch will pave way for not only Inclusivity but also representation and participation of persons with disabilities in the areas of health, education, mobility and governance.

Lois also called federal government support to ensure full implementation of Disability Act which will go a long way in addressing the challenges faced by persons with disabilities.

She called for urgent support to critical issues related to disability inclusion and incorporate Disability Inclusive Service Delivery into the operation of all service providers.

Madam Lois said that Cedar Seed Foundation will be working with other Organizations Of Persons With Disabilities to achieve this initiative of Disability Impact Fund which was designed to mobilize resources readily available to improve the lives of persons with disabilities.

She informed that PWDs according to current statistics are at double risk of developing various health conditions such as depression, asthma, diabetes, stroke, obesity, or experiencing poor oral health.

“These challenges emanate from profound health inequalities rooted in unfair conditions, encompassing stigma, discrimination, poverty, exclusion from education, and systemic barriers within the health system” she added.

Cedar Seed Foundation marked their third edition of International Day for Persons With Disabilities with partnership with other Organizations Of Persons With Disabilities and it was characterized with series of activities such as awareness campaigns at religious Centres, Press conference, Award/Fundraising Dinner, National Dialogue, launch of Disability Impact Fund and costed Five Years Strategic Plan.
