Amputee Nations Cup: Special Eagles Fight Back to Break 13 years jinx

Special Eagles broke a 13 years jinx to progress to the final of the 2019 Amputee Cup of Nations in Angola following a difficult 3-2 victory over Tanzania on Thursday.

Kelvin Kingsley scored his fourth goal of the competition to put Nigeria ahead before the Tanzanians equalised, while an own goal from Austin Ugu from a freekick made it 2-1 for Tanzania.

Tanzania were minutes away from securing a place in the final of the tournament before captain Sarafadeen Olalekan revived the hope of the Eagles by reacting to a spot-kick missed by Ezeji Kenndy.

Nigeria went ahead in the opening half of extra time through Grema Mohammed’s strike which the team maintained to claim the victory and progress to the final of the competition – for the first time in 13 years after three attempts in the semifinals.

Ahead of the deciding game against host , Angola, Sarafadeen urged Nigerians to keep supporting the team and believes the team will be victorious.

“All we need once more is the prayer from Nigerians because their prayer as see us through and am optimistic that with their prayers God will favour us today because he started the journey and he most bring it to an end to favour us.”

He also revealed the technical crew are preparing an approach for the final game, as the country as never lost to the World Champions in regular time.

“Thus our technical team and the coaches are planning a strategy to approach the game in other to come victorious against Angola.”

In the group stage, the Nigeria Amputee Football team drew 2-2 against Tanzania. (BSNSPORTS)
