NAPVID trains PWDs in Edo on household essentials

Benin City – A Non-Governmental Organization, under the aegis of Network for the Advancement of People with Visible Disabilities (NAPVID) have rounded up second phase of its skill acquisition program for persons living with disabilities in Edo state.

The 2-Day training which took place on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th August 2022 at NAPVID’s Secretariat in Benin city is coming barely 3-months after the first Phase was held at same venue.

Participants were trained also in liquid soap, perfume, air freshener, detergent, Vaseline and hair cream production, amongst other essential household items as part of the network’s ‘Project HELP’ initiative to empower special persons in the state.

According to the network, the training programs is aimed at empowering people living with disabilities to be self reliant as well as enable them contribute meaningfully to the development of Nigeria.

The program facilitator, Martha Onyedikachi charged participants to put into practice all they have learnt to enable them remain relevant in the society.

Onyedikachi who ensured that trainees were fully involved in the practical’s throughout the sessions, harped on the need for proper handling of the production materials.

Participants at the end of the 2-Day training expressed gratitude to NAPVID for the empowerment opportunities, maintaining it will enable them become self employed rather than being job seekers.

They were later presented with certificates for participation in the skills acquisition training.
