IFA trains PWDs as advocates to curb incidences of GBV against PWDs in Nigeria

TQM report,

Inclusive Friends Association (IFA) on 24th June, 2021 in Akwanga, Nasarawa State concluded a one week intensive training for persons with disabilities to be Advocates on the Amplifying voices project, with support from Ford Foundation.

IFA birthed this idea from the fact that there is a tremendous increase rate of gender based violence as a result of present unpalatable circumstances in the country and the high level of vulnerability of PWDs to these violent acts as well as the extent of impact on them.

These very passionate Advocates who were thoroughly trained, will take the message to their respective states and local communities and then enlighten the populace with a view to curbing this menace called Disability Based Violence (GBV).

The Participant were drawn from 15 states of the federation including the FCT.

TQM learnt that these advocates received the best of advocacy trainings from well experienced resource persons and they are ready to shine like stars for others to see.

TQM also learnt that the participants were expected to carry out personal projects in their respective states to aid in curbing the incidences of GBV against Persons with disabilities in Nigeria.
