Beautiful Gate donates 180 wheelchairs in FCT and Nasarawa State

The CEO/MD Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre, Jos Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan on Tuesday 20th and Friday 23rd April, 2021 donates 180 Tricycle and wheelchairs in two Municipal Area Councils in the FCT and Navy Estate Karshi of Nasarawa State.

Chief Gufwan donates 70 tricycle wheelchairs in two Municipal Area Councils- Gwagwalada and Kuje; and of course, 40 in Navy Estate, Karshi Nasarawa State.

Chief Gufwan, in his remark said, “It is our payer that we will continue to explore areas of unity so that we can assist the most needy wherever possible.”

Adding that, “In the Beautiful Gate, we believe that disability is not the keys of death, we see disability as a challenge waiting to be overcome; and once someone has lost his means of movement, all he needs to succeed is a small restoration of some aspects of mobility and we believe that these tricycle and wheelchairs will do just that.”

Chief Gufwan rounded off his address by sharing the inspiring story of his mentor Franklin Roosevelt who came down with polio at the age of 39 while he was already in the American Navy and how he defied the odds to become one of the most successful presidents in US history.

The Chairman, Nigerian Navy Residence Association Rtd Commodore Ibrahim Umar, in a remark at the Navy central mosque said, “Islam and Christianity accept humanity as the essential part of our beliefs. We all must strive to ensure that we collaborate with our Christian brothers at all times to ensure that we help the less privileged amongst us.”

The Chief Imam of the Navy Estate, Lt. Commander Mohammed Wakawa also called for more support to persons with disabilities in the country, saying, “Islam is the religion of Mercy and compassion for the poor and the needy in the society. Under Islamic law, the state and the wealthy individuals are responsible for the welfare of the poor who are either handicapped or unable to fend for themselves.”

The Chairmen of Gwagwalada and Kuje Municipal Area Councils in separate remarks appreciated Beautiful Gate Foundation for finding them deserving to have come all the way from Jos to assist the physically challenged in their midst.

Some of the beneficiaries, while responding, thanked the MD, Beautiful Gate; and promised to put the wheelchairs to good use.
