AMAC To Construct Ramps, Provide Sign Language Interpreters for health facilities

TQM report,

The Honorable Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Abdullahi Adamu Candido has given assurance of the council’s plans to construct access ramps to buildings within the Chairman’s office complex as provided by the Disability Law.

Candido also promised to employ one or two Sign Language Interpreters for the healthcare facilities in AMAC to accommodate Deaf persons.

The assurance was given when a Deaf Women Aloud Initiative, (DWAI) team scheduled an advocacy visit to his office demanding improved access to health services for Deaf women and girls in four area councils including AMAC.

The visit also aims to ensure that the area councils and health service providers commit to the adoption of policies and directives that will make health services and information accessible to, and inclusive of Deaf women and girls.
