Rolac partners Anambra State govt to establish a counselling centre

A Disability Counseling Centre is to be established in Anambra State.

The Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Disability Matters, Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie disclosed this during a one day results tracking meeting with the service providers and relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Awka.

Speaking at the event , Barrister Ezewuzie, who said that the center will be established by the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption, ROLAC, in partnership with Anambra State Government, explained that it will be a place for experts to counsel parents, who have Persons with Disabilities.

He commended ROLAC, and other relevant agencies for their efforts in ensuring that Anambra State retains its position as the best state in Nigeria with all-inclusive governance.

The State Coordinator, Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Mrs. Josephine Onah noted that the state has achieved appreciable level of inclusiveness in governance and called for more sign language interpreters to help those, who cannot hear nor talk to communicate properly in Nigeria.

According to the state chairman, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, JONAPWD, Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke, JONAPWD in seeking to promote laws and practices that facilitate access to justice for persons with mental and physical disabilities, employment opportunity, prohibition of discrimination and harmful treatment of their members, increase right to access public building, vehicles, education, justice, health care among others.

Dignitaries at the event were, the Anambra State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mr. Charles Nworji and Bishop Ndubuisi.
