The Founder and President of The Albino Foundation(TAF) Jake Epelle, on AIT Kakaki on Thursday morning warned Nigerians to be careful that COVID-19 is real.
This came as his contribution towards assisting to curb the spread of the virus since he and some members of his family tested positive to COVID-19 on 31st December, 2020.
They were currently on self isolation in his home, receiving treatment pending when they would be tested and it become negative.
Mr. Jake speaking via zoom from his home in Abuja said that he was planning to travel to United States after he traveled earlier briefly before then, he tested negative. He carried out another test on 30th December, 2020 in preparation for his travel to US but unfortunately on 31st December, 2020 when the test came out, it happened that he tested positive and his family were also tested and some of members of his family also tested positive. Two of his maids who tested negative were sent to stay with his in-laws.
He said that he was not too symptomatic, he lost taste of food and smell, he feels feverish time to time. He said that the experience is scary because the fever that comes at times is quite challenging.
He warned that people should be careful because there is a new strain of the virus that is spreading which is very dangerous.
He said that it is crime for some people to continue to say and deceiving the public that COVID-19 is not real, he urges government to go after such persons because it is no longer about rights, their attitude threatens the safety of so many Nigerians. They should be arrested and detained.
He lamented about what is going on in Nigeria because he was offered an opportunity to take up a status that was not his so that he would be certified and still make that trip. He declined the offer and warned about the danger that it portend in our society when people will pay and they would be given a wrong COVID-19 status and they would go on and be spreading the virus because the person does not want to miss his or her appointment. He pleaded that Nigerians should be sincere and know that it is important to save the lives than acquiring wealth.
