INEC CVR: NCPWD Raises Awareness For More Inclusion Of PWDs

The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities in collaboration with Inclusive Friends Association has embarked on sensitisation walk to raise awareness for registration and inclusion of more persons with disabilities in the continuous Voter registration.

The Sensitisation walk which started at Berger through Wuse market, had various members distributing fliers for the campaign.

The Sensitisation walk was organised as the deadline for the ongoing voter registration approaches to get more Nigerians especially those with disabilities to register and obtain their permanent voter cards.

The Executive Secretary National Commission for Persons with Disabilities Mr James Lalu who promised to work closely with the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC to ensure that all registered members had their permanent voter cards, called on political parties and other stakeholders not to neglect the voting strength of the disability community.

Also, the Executive Director of the Inclusive Friends Association Grace Jerry who said the campaign targetted over one million persons with disabilities, urged all state Resident Electoral Commissioners to use the remaining days to capture more Persons with disabilities.

On his part, the Acting Director Compliance and Enforcement,in the Commission,Me Ikem Uchegbunam while acknowledging the technical support for the success of the exercise, maintained that the efforts would enhance political inclusion of persons with disabilities.

Some members of the disabilities community expressed optimism that the campaign would raise more awareness on political activities.

They called on INEC and political parties to arry them along in all the political processes
