DRAC has been active at championing improved access to SRHR for women and girls with disabilities, and is working at state level to improve access to SRHR for women and young people with disabilities.
On September 2, 2022 DRAC team was received by the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, to initiate partnership and collaboration for adoption of the National Policy on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Right (SRHR) of Persons with Disabilities with emphasis as part of activities under DRAC’s Breaking Barriers Project supported by The Leprosy Mission.
The Commissioner stated that he recognizes the challenges persons with disabilities face in accessing health and is committed to ensuring their inclusion by taking much needed actions especially collaborative efforts that will yield results.
The Coordinator, Reproductive Health Unit was asked to review the National Policy and initiate necessary processes for its adoption.
