CCD Collaborates with Abia State Government on Groundbreaking Climate Change Initiative for Persons with Disabilities

Advocacy Visit to Special Assistant Heralds New Era of Inclusion and Environmental Stewardship

On February 15, 2024, the Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) embarked on a pivotal advocacy visit to Hon. David Obinna Anyaele, the Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Persons With Disabilities.

The primary objective of the visit was to secure collaborative efforts in championing climate change mitigation and adaptation for individuals with disabilities in Abia State.

Mrs. Florence Austin, the Interim Head of Office, warmly congratulated Hon. David Anyaele on his well-deserved appointment, lauding the positive changes realized under his leadership.

Commendations were also extended to Governor Alex Chioma Otti OFR for demonstrating a steadfast commitment to disability inclusion and development within the state.

Expanding on the project’s scope, Mr. Damian Ivom, CCD Senior Program Officer, underscored the heightened vulnerability of persons with disabilities to climate change impacts, emphasizing the urgent need to address these issues in Abia State.

The CCD team urged Hon. David Anyaele to leverage his influential position to ensure the seamless implementation and significant impact of the climate change initiative.

In response, the Special Assistant expressed enthusiasm for the well-conceived and timely project, highlighting the innovative activities outlined for its execution. He also acknowledged Governor Alex Chioma Otti OFR’s dedication to ongoing efforts in climate change management.
