Anambra North: Sen. Stella Oduah provides students, those with disabilities with computer sets, wheelchairs

Senator representing Anambra North at the 9th Senate, Senator Stella Oduah has extended her educational and health empowerment works to schools and persons with physical disability within her constituency.

In her continued efforts to improve the Information Communication Technological advancement of schools as well as the living conditions of the PWDs, Stella who doubles as the Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriation has continued the distribution of the items to beneficiaries to complement their daily learning and economic activities.

Cross Secondary School, Onitsha; Anglican Girls Grammar School, Onitsha and St. Charles Lwanga secondary school, Okpoko who were each presented with four complete Brand new Sets Of HP Desktop Computers.

Taking delivery of the ICT gadgets on Friday, Principal of Holy Cross Secondary School, Evangelist Dr. Omekaodimma A. Nkechi showered appreciation on Stella Oduah, describing the gesture as timely and laudable. The School Manager pledged to deploy the items into proper use to the benefit of the ICT acquisition of the students.

While distributing the items at Anglican Girls and Charles Lwanga secondary schools , Stella candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 Senatorial elections expressed her optimism that the items will boost the learning motivation of the students’ inorder to help them achieve their goals as well as their acquisition of essential occupational skills.

Speaking at the premises of both schools,Hon. Noel Udeoji and Hon Chinedum Iwuchukwu who jointly represented Senator Stella to make the donation urged the benefiting schools to make judicious use of the gadgets. According to her the exercise is an extension of her educational empowerment programme which she commenced in 2019.

Stella said; “Information and Communication Technology enables the use of innovative educational resources and the renewal of learning methods. It is out hope that these sets of computers will establish a more active collaboration of students and the simultaneous acquisition of technological knowledge.

Principal of Anglican Girls Grammar School ,Dame Mercy Nneka Nwankwo conveyed her gratitude to Senator Stella, adding that the Items will contribute immensely to the ICT knowledge of the staff and students. Mercy also described Stella’s tenure at the Senate as satisfactory.

In a related development Stella Oduah over the weekend presided over the distribution of 20 Wheelchairs to members of the Association of People with Disabilities within her Senatorial zone.

During the exercise Stella urged the public to shun the discrimination of the physically challenged in the society. She enumerated the benefits of the wheel chairs; ” Today, Twenty wheelchairs were distributed according to the seven local governments that make Anambra North. We all know that individuals with disabilities face a lot of discrimination and disregard especially in Nigeria.

“For me, the fact that someone is without a limb, blind or deaf, does not mean that their brains are not functional and I can attest to the truism of this view in the way and manner most people in this demographic, that have worked under my employ, creditably distinguished themselves.

Stella also promised to expand the skill acquisition training held for persons with disabilities to accommodate more members and the provision of Mini Shuttle buses to its members.

Speaking on behalf of the persons with disabilities, Madam Virginia Odoh, who was usually spotted around the Holy Trinity Cathedral axis, thanked Senator Stella for her philanthropic gestures stating the wheel chairs will go a long way to ameliorate their difficulties.
