The Vice Chair of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Ambassador Dr. Christopher Nwanoro, has extended warm congratulations to His Excellency, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, following his emergence as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a heartfelt congratulatory message personally monitored live from São Tomé and Príncipe, where he is currently engaged in high-level diplomatic engagements, Ambassador Nwanoro expressed admiration for Prof. Yilwatda’s inspiring vision and leadership style, describing his emergence as “a new dawn for the APC and Nigeria’s democratic future.”
“I had the privilege of watching your inauguration live from São Tomé and Príncipe,” Ambassador Nwanoro stated. “I must say, I’m deeply impressed by the clarity of your vision and the passionate commitment you demonstrated during your acceptance speech. Your leadership, no doubt, will shape the future of the APC and strengthen democratic values in our country.”
Ambassador Nwanoro, a seasoned diplomat, disability rights advocate, and a global voice for inclusive governance, went further to commend the new APC Chairman for his track record of excellence and progressive ideas, urging him to prioritize inclusivity, equity, and national unity in his leadership.
“As a strong advocate for inclusivity and accessibility, I have no doubt that your tenure will bring about the kind of positive change that uplifts the voices of all Nigerians — including the most marginalized. The future demands leadership that is bold, just, and people-centered, and I believe you represent this hope,” the statement added.
The emergence of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda has already sparked a wave of optimism within political and civic spaces across the country. Many see his appointment as a bold step toward rejuvenating the APC with fresh energy and new ideas, particularly at a time when the party faces growing public expectations and the need to restore public trust in governance.
Ambassador Nwanoro’s message is particularly symbolic, coming from one of Nigeria’s most prominent global figures in the disability rights space. As Vice Chair of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, he has consistently championed inclusive policies and pushed for global best practices in governance, service delivery, and political participation — especially for persons with disabilities and other vulnerable populations.
Prof. Yilwatda, a former INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner and technocrat with years of public service, has been widely commended for his cerebral approach to governance, rooted in transparency, innovation, and evidence-based policies. His inaugural speech emphasized unity, grassroots development, and youth empowerment — priorities that align closely with the aspirations of millions of Nigerians yearning for responsive leadership.
As the APC charts a new course under his stewardship, stakeholders are hopeful that his leadership will usher in not only political victories but also tangible socio-economic progress for Nigerians of all backgrounds.
Ambassador Nwanoro concluded his message with a prayerful note:
“Wishing you wisdom, strength, and resounding success as you embark on this pivotal national assignment. May your tenure be marked by peace, progress, and purpose for the good of all Nigerians.”
With voices like that of Dr. Nwanoro affirming support, and with the eyes of the nation and the international community on the APC’s new leadership, all indicators suggest that Nigeria’s ruling party may be entering a transformative era—one grounded in inclusion, innovation, and impactful service.
