The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons With Disabilities Mr James David Lalu has expressed renewed hope over the appointment of a new Chairman, House Committee on disabilities by the leadership of the 10th Assembly.
This came as a pleasant surprise when Hon Dr. Bashir Ayinla Daodu visited the commission in Abuja, today 21st August, 2023 to hit the ground running on disability affairs.
The ES in his welcome address appreciated the Chairman for his passion and humility to assume the enormous responsibility in working with the Commission and members of the disability community.
“This is the beginning of greater things to come as we now have a veteran not just in the medical field but, also one that understands the psychology of an average person with disability” he said.
In a like manner, the Chairman, Dr. Bashir Ayinla Daodu commended the zeal of the ES and other staff of the Commission for holding up for millions of Persons With Disabilities across Nigeria. He assured that better days are coming for Persons With Disabilities irrespective of where they are resident in the country.
“I am already working on an upward review of the budgetary allocation for the commission together with relevant members of the house of representatives and this means all hands must be on deck”, Ayinla said.
He further promised to bring his wealth of experience as chief medical Director while serving in a reputable hospital in Atlanta Georgia, United States of America to bear in order to make life more meaningful to Nigerians, especially Persons With Disabilities.
In her vote of thanks, the Director Human Resource Management of the Commission, Mrs A. A Oguntade on behalf of the Management and Staff of the Commission expressed her gratitude to the 10th Assembly for gifting the Commission with a well grounded personage and pledged the total corporation of the teaming staff of the commission.
