The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Mr. James David Lalu has expressed his sadness over the demise of a Frontline and Pioneer leader of the Joint Association of Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria, Barrister Danlami Barshiru, whose death occurred on the 7th June, 2023 after a brief illness.
While addressing Newsmen at his residence in Abuja, earlier this morning, Lalu described the bereavement as a “Sunset at dawn” in the Disability Community.
“It is quite deplorable to lose this gentleman of good repute who was literally a father to the Disability Community at this time when the illumination of good hope has become so visible for Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria” He lamented.
The ES further enjoined the community of Persons with Disabilities never to despair and see the sad occurrence as a sacrifice of a renewed hope for brighter future.
“let us remember that death is a Divine will, which ultimately is a transition of life that the Almighty God has promised us all for a renewed hope in Him” He stated, philosophically.
Lalu also directed that the love every member of the Disability Community bore the late sage should be transformed to a propelling force that would help to keep his struggle for the welfare of Persons with Disabilities alive at all times.
“May the soul of our brother, father and mentor, Barrister Danlami Barshiru rest in the Bossom of the Lord till such a time when we shall all meet to part no more” the ES prayed.
However, Barrister Danlami Barshiru was a lawyer and a member of the fourth Estate in Nigeria.
