The National Association of Graduate Applicant and workers With Disabilities (NAGAWD) today 6/6/2023 barricaded FRSC head office in Abuja demanding for inclusion of PWDs in their ongoing recruitment process.
God’sTime Iheanyi Onyebulam (PhD) who is President of the Union, speaking to our correspondent said that all efforts made before now to meet with Corps Marshal on this issue of “inclusiveness of Persons With Disabilities” prove abortive.
According to him, several letters have been written since 2019 till this time, concerning the aforementioned demands, yet the management not responding positively.
He said, FRSC have not score up to 0.1% compliance on Section 29 of Discrimination against Persons With Disabilities (Prohibition) Act 2018.
The law demand that 5% opportunity should reserve for PWDs. We are qualified graduates and it is our right to work in FRSC as every other Nigerian.
“There are administrative offices there that suit our predicament. They should emulate NDLEA as a paramilitary who engage some of our members on their last 2021 recruitment”, he added.
“We demanded all our request should be attended to as matter of urgency. We have come out in our numbers to cry out, we can’t bear it any longer. If the management no answer today positively, we are ready to sleep here till we get our results. We are not violent, this is why we sat quietly, he added.
