NCPWD Inducts Over 90 Newly Employed

The National Commission for Persons With Disabilities under the able leadership of the Executive Secretary, Mr. James David Lalu has inducted over ninety newly employed staff into the Commission.

Speaking at the two – day intensive workshop organized for the pioneer set of employees, the ES charged the participants to make the best of the opportunity that the Federal Government has given them and be good ambassadors in their respective offices.

Earlier in his remarks, Mr. Lalu admonished the staff to adopt humility as their guiding principle in the course of carrying out their duties. He said this will open windows of opportunities for them beyond the office.

“I urge you to embrace humility while doing your job because it will endear people to assist you even when you face challenges”.

Meanwhile, the Commission’s helmsman equally advised the participants to share ideas, relate freely with one another and ultimately be team player.

He however, hinted that the Commission will have it’s zonal offices across the country before the end of the year.

According to him, this will facilitate proximity to Persons with Disabilities at the grassroots inorder to solving most of the challenges they face.

“With a population of about thirty -five million PWDs spread across Nigeria, many of them are languishing in precarious situations and will be looking up to the newly employed who are ambassadors of NCPWD”, Lalu said.

He, therefore, underpinned the need to listen more and talk less in order to be more productive and responsive to PWDs’ needs while seeing them as customers who deserve the right services.

In recognition of the mentoring by the ES, the Director, Human Resources (NCPWD) Mr. Fatherson Reuben Ango encouraged the staff to take a cue from the interpersonal skills constantly exhibited by the Executive Secretary.

Speaking further, he reassured that the 2- day training will help shape the character and improve the personal attributes of the new staff. He then wished them well in their future endeavors.
