CCD visits LASODA, set to build capacities of MDAs on how to amplify the voices of marginalized groups

The Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) continued to set the standards in addressing critical and important issues affecting the inclusion and active participation of PWDs in programs and activities of Lagos State and the country as a whole.
As part of their mandates to advocate for the creation as well as the promotion of an inclusive society, CCD Team paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), Alausa Ikeja.

In partnership with the Swedish Mission Council (SMC), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), and The Leprosy Mission Sweden, TLM-Nigeria has commenced a Vocational Skills Acquisition Programme for income generation. Young persons affected by leprosy and disability will be offered opportunities to develop skills in agriculture, automotive repair, electrical repairs, event planning, arts and crafts, fashion designing, makeup artistry, carpentry, painting, interior decoration, hairdressing and burning salon and much more. The aim of the visit was to once again collaborate with the agency (LASODA) on Access to Justice and Political Participation for women, the elderly, youth and persons with disabilities in Lagos State.
It is a project supported by Voice Nigeria to build the capacities of relevant stakeholder to amplify the voice of marginalised and discriminated groups.
Mr. Dare Dairo (GM, LASODA) and top officials of the agency received the team. It was a fruitful deliberation. The GM stated it clearly that the agency is ready to partner with CCD in executing programs that will effectively aid the rapid development, active participation, and inclusion of PWDs in state’s programs.
