IWD: CCD boss, David Anyaele receives award from LSAD, pledges more support to deaf community

The Executive Director, Center for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) David Obinna Anyaele was honoured with an award by the Lagos State in appreciation of his unwavering support and relentless guidance in leading the LSAD to success.

The award was presented at an event put together by the Association in commemoration of the 10th edition of Lagos State Deaf Awareness Week which is line with the activities marking 2021 International week of the Deaf.

Anyaele in statement he shared with TQM said that he is excited to have joined the opening ceremony of International Week for the Deaf is committed towards supporting Lagos State Association of the Deaf especially in the area of awareness creation on the rights of Deaf persons in Lagos State. He said that CCD as an organization is committed towards partnering with LSAD in promoting their Activities. He pledged to support three Deaf persons on ICT studies.

He also said that the day is special because it is his first public engagement since he fixed his new Myoelectric Control ‘below-elbow’ Prosthesis. He has been moving around for 9 months without it.

“I want to thank the Lagos State Deaf Association for the award they gave me today. Together, we shall create a Lagos State that is free from discrimination on account of any form of disability, we are in this together.

Anyaele appreciated the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), the Chairman and Board of Trustees, CCD for roles played in securing him new hands.
