The Executive Director of Cedar Seeds Foundation, Mrs Lois Auta has advised persons with disabilities to always speak out whenever they see any act of corruption being perpetuated that would affect the welfare of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
She disclosed this during a virtual meeting organized by Cedar Seeds Foundation on the impact of corruption on persons with disabilities.
She said that corruption has affected persons with disabilities in so many ways, for instance, in transportation, allocations meant for disability friendly facilities are being diverted.
She said that it is because PWDs are silent, that is why it is happening. She said that it is high time PWDs should be reporting cases of corruption, that was why the meeting was set up to commence conversation around corruption in the major MDAs within FCT.

Liman Usman, a blind journalist who is presented of Will and Zeal on AIT, said that some corrupt practices perpetuated against PWDs was not because of disability but they are some that are working against PWDs and we should be at alert to identify them and do something to address them. He said that corruption has created more problem for PWDs and it is the greatest undoing for PWDs.
Agbo Christian Obiora, a journalist with physical Disability, the corruption has affected people with Disabilities in sports, and other sectors. He said that why people are diverting money meant for PWDs is because project meant for provision of Disability friendly facilities are not being supervised. He encouraged PWDs to be asking questions and demand for compliance whenever a project was awarded to provide facilities for Persons with Disabilities or other allocations meant for welfare of PWDs.
Mrs Janet, a woman with disability shared her experience on how corruption affected her. She narrated that she was attacked by armed robbers who carted away her belongings but fortunately the robbers were caught and her belongings and many others were recovered. She was surprised that the criminals were released but her belongings were given that to her.
