The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons With Disabilities (NCPWD) Mr. James David Lalu on Friday in his office convened a Multi Sectoral Stakeholders Meeting on vacancies for replacement/employment of at least 5% for Persons With Disabilities.
The Stakeholders worked out a modalities for the constitution of a National Technical Working Group on access to employment for Persons With Disabilities across the six geopolitical zones.
According to the Executive Secretary in his Facebook account, “A Technical working group was birthed to drive compliance and enforcement of 5% opportunities in line with Section 28 & 29 of the National Disability Act 2018”.
They brainstormed on the development of an action plan for engaging State Governments on the implementation of signing the disability act into law to facilitate employment of Persons with Disabilities into the mainstream Civil and Public Service.
The stakeholders meeting brought together Members of the National Assembly (Senator Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf Chair Senate Committee on Special Duties, Hon. Miriam Onuoha Chair House Committee on Disability) , Federal Civil Service Commission, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Office of the Secretary to the Government of Federation, ROLAC, Sight Savers, and JONAPWD.
