Speaking further, he said the partnership is laudable because it is in line with YACI mission which is to develop the leadership potentials of our youths in every sector of our society and produce youth ambassadors with great capacity to achieve greatness. Well equipping these young people with knowledge, skills and information would propel them to greatness and gathering of 100 successful Nnokwa Youths is setting the pace for a new beginning in their lives.
He also said that the development of youths is very pivotal to the advancement of any nation. Nigeria remains a struggling nation in both economics and politics because we have not really taken the youth as a central focus in nation building. We must know that a nation without youth development as its core mandate is a nation without a future.
“We cannot continue to ignore the great potentials of youths, and keep recycling men and women who are supposed to be resting, in our political and economic life. No economy grows with its old people. A rational and forward looking country deploys her youth to key aspects of the economy where their creativity, ingenuity, and robust knowledge are harnessed for economic and political success” he added.
“But our challenge in Nigeria is not just about giving youth opportunity. Our challenge also lies in the fact that our youth are not even prepared for opportunities. Preparedness precedes opportunity. Going to school and getting degree certificate is just the first step in the journey of being prepared” he stated.
He stated the benefits of the ICT Skills to the participants, saying that it is lucrative, and it is no longer the future but the present which was very evident during the COVID-19 lockdown when other businesses were shutdown, ICT professionals were getting constant alerts in their bank accounts. They were able to carry on with their work from the comfort of their homes. He also said that a person with ICT skills do not look for jobs even when he is not working with a company, he would be getting job from people and companies as contract.
