The Founder and CEO of The Albino Foundation, Jake Epelle has debunked the myth bounding around that Persons with albinism does not have melanin saying that the assertion is totally incorrect.
He stated this as a panelist in A One-Day Roundtable themed: Confronting the Challenges of the Safety of Persons with Albinism organized on Friday by Inclusion Magazine in collaboration with The Albino Foundation.
Mr. Jake in his explanation while reacting to comments from some dignitaries who mentioned that Persons with Albinism lack melanin, said that no human being lack melanin, lack of melanin will make a human being colourless, if persons with albinism lack melanin, they would have been colourless.
He said that persons with albinism don’t lack melanin rather they don’t have enough melanin in their eyes which is affecting their sight and the eye defect cannot be corrected through surgery. A person with albinism can use recommend eyeglass to aid his or her vision.
