The Hero of the Month Award is a monthly programme designed by the Foundation to uplift and encourage those doing the extraordinary in all walks of life.
Mr. Solihu, while receiving the award, expressed happiness and gratitude for the succor provided him.
“My story is one of tenacity and determination. My condition presented me with the opportunity to be laid back and turn myself and families into beggars.
“The society is difficult as things are hard. But that is not a justification to turn ourselves to nuisance because of our condition.
“I think my colleagues and other persons with disabilities across the country can make a mirror out of my situation. I have a wife, kids and fend for myself and family through my handwork”, he added.
He, therefore, charged physically challenged people like him not to lose hope and always believe in themselves and be contented.
The chairman, Shoemakers Association of Nigeria, Moro chapter, Mr. Lukman Adam described Mr Solihu as an intellectual and hardworking individual adding that despite his challenges, he never gave up.
The Publicity Secretary of the foundation, Eyitanwa Lawal, said the move is consistent with its Corporate Social Responsibility policy aimed specifically to uplift the underprivileged members of society.
