TQM Executive Director Congratulates Abdullahi Aliyu Usman on Appointment as First ES, Kebbi State Commission for Persons with Disabilities

Kebbi State, Nigeria – The disability community in Nigeria has reason to celebrate as Abdullahi Aliyu Usman, the National President of the Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities (JONAPWD), was recently appointed as the first Executive Secretary of the Kebbi State Commission for Persons with Disabilities. This landmark appointment has garnered widespread commendation from across the country, including from the Executive Director of The Qualitative Magazine (TQM) and the founder of JOMIDA Foundation for Persons with Disabilities, Comrade Chris Obiora Agbo.

In a heartfelt message, the Executive Director of TQM joined other well-meaning Nigerians in congratulating Usman on his appointment, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his tireless efforts in championing the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria. He highlighted Usman’s significant contributions to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and his relentless pursuit of equality and empowerment for all, especially those who are often marginalized.

“Abdullahi Aliyu Usman has been a beacon of hope for the disability community in Nigeria,” remarked the TQM Executive Director. “His appointment as the first Executive Secretary of the Kebbi State Commission for Persons with Disabilities is not only a personal achievement but also a victory for all persons with disabilities who have long sought a voice in the corridors of power. His track record speaks volumes, and I have no doubt that he will bring the same dedication and passion to this new role.”

The TQM Executive Director went on to urge Usman to leverage this opportunity to enhance the implementation of disability laws within Kebbi State. Emphasizing critical areas such as employment, healthcare, accessible infrastructure, and education, he called on Usman to ensure that these essential services are made fully accessible to PWDs throughout the state.

“He has a unique opportunity to create lasting change,” the Executive Director noted. “The implementation of disability laws is crucial, and it is imperative that this administration prioritizes the rights and needs of PWDs. I urge him to focus on these areas, as they are vital to the well-being and integration of persons with disabilities into mainstream society.”

Furthermore, the TQM Executive Director highlighted the importance of ensuring that Usman’s administration has a direct impact on the lives of PWDs, particularly those residing in rural communities. He stressed that many individuals with disabilities in these areas are often overlooked and face significant challenges in accessing basic services.

“Rural communities should not be left behind,” he said. “It is essential that this administration reaches out to the most vulnerable populations, ensuring that they too benefit from the strides being made in disability rights. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

In addition to his advice on policy implementation, the TQM Executive Director also encouraged Usman to adopt an open-door policy and embrace inclusive governance. He emphasized that by welcoming diverse perspectives and fostering collaboration among various stakeholders, Usman could harness the best ideas and strategies for advancing the rights of PWDs.

“An open-door policy and inclusive governance are key to success,” the Executive Director stated. “By involving various organizations of persons with disabilities and considering the input of different disability clusters, his administration can build a unified and effective approach to addressing the challenges faced by PWDs. Collaboration and unity will be crucial in achieving common goals and advancing the plight of PWDs in Kebbi State.”

He also underscored the importance of fostering harmonious relationships among the different organizations representing PWDs, noting that a united front would strengthen advocacy efforts and lead to more significant advancements in disability rights.

“Building strong, collaborative relationships within the disability community will be essential for success,” he added. “When organizations work together, they can present a common purpose and drive meaningful change for PWDs across the state. I encourage Usman to focus on creating a supportive and cohesive network among these groups.”

The TQM Executive Director concluded his message by congratulating Usman once again on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to excel in his new role. He also commended the Kebbi State Governor for appointing an individual with such a proven track record to lead the commission.

“Kudos to the Kebbi State Governor for making a wise and impactful choice,” he said. “By appointing Abdullahi Aliyu Usman, the Governor has shown a strong commitment to advancing the rights of PWDs in Kebbi State. I am confident that under Usman’s leadership, the commission will achieve great things and set a new standard for disability rights in Nigeria.”
