SSAP Hon. Abba Isa Pledges Support for Karon-Majigi Disability Community After Devastating Fire

In a heartwarming display of empathy, Hon. Abba Isa led a delegation from his office, accompanied by Ms. Delu Bulus Yakubu, Special Assistant to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, and other key stakeholders. Their mission was not only to extend sympathies to the victims but also to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the damage caused by the fire that engulfed the temporary settlement along the Airport Road, Abuja, on February 3, 2024.

The inferno, though mercifully claiming no lives, left the vulnerable community in a state of despair, having lost their makeshift residences and valuable possessions. Hon. Abba Isa assured the victims of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to alleviate their plight and provide a permanent resettlement solution.

In a press release signed by Comrade Lanre Oloyede, Director of Media and Communications (OSSAP SNEO), the SSAP and his entourage were warmly welcomed at the Emir’s palace and Seriki of PWDs Karon-Majigi. Mrs. Esther Akwu, a person with a disability (PWD) and a victim of the fire, expressed gratitude for Hon. Abba Isa’s kindness and humanity in personally visiting to assess the extent of the damage.

Lamenting years of neglect, Mrs. Akwu highlighted the dire lack of basic infrastructure, including primary healthcare and schools, in their community. She implored Hon. Abba Isa to advocate for improved conditions, emphasizing the need for essential amenities such as electricity, potable water, and orphanages for PWD children.

Addressing the community at the Disability Community Sarki’s palace, Hon. Abba Isa empathized with their challenges, branding the fire incident as unfortunate. He echoed President Tinubu’s commitment to transforming their lives, restoring their settlement, and implementing an all-inclusive housing policy for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).

Seeking support and collaboration from stakeholders and development partners, Hon. Abba Isa emphasized the urgency of resettling and empowering these vulnerable individuals. The delegation toured the fire-ravaged scene for a firsthand assessment of the devastation.

Ms. Delu Bulus Yakubu, the SA to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, assured the victims of the federal government’s tireless efforts to provide them with comfortable lifestyles. She advised preventive measures to avert future disasters.

In a touching conclusion, Hon. Abba Isa presented cash gifts to the PWDs affected by the inferno, offering a glimmer of financial relief amidst their losses. The Emir and his chiefs expressed profound gratitude for the Senior Presidential aide’s achievements for the disability community, praying for Allah’s guidance and protection for him and his team.

This renewed hope saga unfolds as the nation rallies behind the Karon-Majigi community, highlighting the resilience of the human spirit and the power of compassionate leadership in times of adversity.
