Prince Paul Adelabu, JONAPWD BOT Chairman dies at the age of 59

Thursday July 29th, 2021 was sad day for disability community in Nigeria as they lost one of their father figure and one who have been at the part of Disability struggling from the beginning, first President of Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Prince Paul Adelabu.

Prince Paul Adelabu was a seasoned politician, a former Special Assistant to the immediate past Governor of Oyo State until his death, he was the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD).

Adelabu is a social worker and one of the prominent members of Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW), Oyo State chapter.

He had also served as Principal to Rehabilitation Center for people with disabilities in Moniya, Ibadan.

According to our source who paid a condolence visit to his family, Mr. Dare, his son narrated that it all started when he complained of Malaria fever on Tuesday. On visiting the hospital, Doctor said his sugar level was too high and the following day on Wednesday, he became weak and he was taken to the hospital but unfortunately, he was rejected in all hospitals visited. They all said that Prince Adelabu was a public figure so they cannot admit him. Adeoyo Hospital rejected him and said they cannot admit adults by 10pm.

He was moved to UCH where they also rejected him and told his son that they cannot admit around 12am. He later passed a night at a hospital at Agbowo. He was brought to UCH in the Morning at 5am and was rejected again. He was then taken to Jericho Hospital and was also rejected. On his way back to another hospital Prince Paul Adelabu died in his Car on Thursday 29th July, 2021 at UCH Agodi gate road at 10am.

Prince Paul Adelabu died at the age of 59, he was preparing to mark grand 60th birthday celebration on Sunday August 1st, 2021.

TQM expressed deepest condolence to the family of Prince Paul Adelabu and pray that God will comfort them at a time like this. May his soul rest in peace.
