Comrade Mohammed Abba Isa, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, partners with Near Foundation to provide food relief to vulnerable communities during the holy month of Ramadan, bringing hope and smiles to over 500 Persons With Disabilities in Karon-majigi community.

In a heartwarming gesture of compassion and solidarity, Comrade Mohammed Abba Isa, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, spearheaded the distribution of food packages to over 500 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) from the Karon-majigi community. This initiative, carried out in collaboration with Near Foundation, an NGO dedicated to hunger, water, and education relief, aims to alleviate the hardships faced by marginalized individuals, especially during the sacred month of Ramadan.

Comrade Abba Isa emphasized that the food distribution aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes key areas such as water, education, health, and poverty reduction. He underscored the importance of collaboration with development partners to ensure the effective implementation of initiatives aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable populations.

Addressing the significance of the National Disability Law, the Presidential aide stressed the urgent need for increased awareness to combat discrimination against PWDs in the country. By investing in public education and advocacy efforts, he believes that society can foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for persons with disabilities.

Reflecting on the impact of the food distribution, beneficiary Ahmad Abu Amina expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing the experience as “so nice” and emphasizing the joy and appreciation felt by the community. He highlighted the importance of continued government support, particularly amidst challenging economic conditions, to uplift the living standards of PWDs and ensure their well-being.

As the nation observes Ramadan, initiatives like these serve as a beacon of hope and solidarity, demonstrating the power of compassion and collective action in addressing the needs of the most vulnerable members of society.
