Osun commences food distribution to vulnerable persons ahead of Eid-el-Kabir

TQM report,

As part of its social welfare intervention for vulnerable citizens during the year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Osun State government has commenced the distribution of food support for vulnerable citizens across the state.

The state government started feeding 30,000 poor and vulnerable citizens across the state in March 2021.

Speaking during the flag-off of the distribution on Friday, the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, reaffirmed the commitment of the Oyetola-led government to implementing people-oriented programmes.

Oyebamiji said, “For over three months now, the state government has provided food items for the vulnerable. It is the belief of this government that it is not enough to just pay salaries and construct roads. The masses should also be considered for some direct benefits from the government.

“What we are doing is so that the common man could have a feel of the government they voted into power.

“This government is focused on its commitments, and this particular distribution is strategic. It is the government’s intention that the distribution intersects with the Ileya festival so that there is celebration across different social strata.”

Also speaking at the flag-off, the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties and chairman of the Osun Food Support Scheme, Hon. Olalekan Badmus, said the government had made provision for 5kg bag of rice for 30,000 vulnerable citizens in accordance with the parameters earlier set.

“The concerns of citizens are also the concerns of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. This explains why his policies and programmes have revolved around the people,” Badmus said.
