A woman with mental disability who delivered of twin babies on July 13 has been assisted with cash and foodstuff.
The Chief of Staff to Lagos State Governor, Tayo Ayinde, donated cash. The donation was done on his behalf by the Chief Executive Officer of Corner47 Group, Gbolahan Odusanya.
Odusanya also facilitated a ram and bag of rice for the twins’ upkeep from Imam Hakeem Kosoko.
The materials were on Monday handed over to Sola Ademola, the woman’s brother, at the Bolade Office of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC).
The LNSC General Manager, Prince Falade Oyekan, said the gesture was the outcome of intelligence efforts. According to him, the agency sent officers to investigate the claim brought by Odusanya, who runs Iyen naa nice on social media.
He said: “Our men visited the Divisional Police Officer at Okokomaiko and also visited the woman’s home to confirm the claim. The outcome of our intelligence gathering and operation report is what you are witnessing today.”
Oyekan urged Lagosians to emulate the gesture.
Odusanya also promised a N20,000 upkeep for the twins until the government takes over their welfare, and urged Nigerians to help Ademola get a good job. This, he said, would enable him cater for the twins.
He said the state government was interested in the upkeep of the babies.
Ademola, who thanked the donors for their gesture, said his sister has been sick for over 18 years. According to him, she was taken to Osogbo after the delivery for further treatment.
