National Disability Convening Sparks Dialogue on Disability Rights and Inclusion

In a gathering of esteemed leaders and advocates, the Wells Carlton Hotel in Abuja became the epicenter of pivotal discussions surrounding disability rights in Nigeria. Supported by the Ford Foundation, the National Disability Convening convened to address the critical theme of “Evaluating the Implementation of the Disability Act in Nigeria.”

At the forefront of the event was James D. Lalu PhD, NPOM, Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD). In his opening remarks, Dr. Lalu reaffirmed the commission’s unwavering commitment to combating discrimination against persons with disabilities (PWDs). With resolute determination, he emphasized the commission’s capacity and readiness to apprehend, investigate, and prosecute any individual found discriminating against PWDs.
