The Naija Autistic and Disability Awards (NADA) on Friday, 14th of January, 2022 presented two prestigious: The Inspirational personality of the year Award” to Mr. David Obinna Anyaele, and the Inspirational exceptional organization Award to Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD).
Presenting the Awards, which was virtual, NADA founder , Tunde Oyedoyin hinted that the Awards were inspired by the good work disability advocates are doing in Nigeria to improve the quality of lives of persons with disabilities.
While commending the Awardees for providing inspiration for selflessness and services to people with disabilities in the country , NADA leader, urged the awardees to not relent in their efforts.
Receiving the awards, the Executive Director of CCD; Mr David Anyaele, recalled how he lost both arms twenty three years ago, and how CCD was created, it’s achievements which included championing the passing and assent to the National Disability Rights Act, the zeal and move to ensure full implementation and promotion of equality and equity for person with disabilities across Nigeria.
Expressing the kindness shown to him by Nigerians at the early days of his limbs loss, and coupled with the challenge given to him by his Dad to “go and do likewise,” are part of the motivation driving the work of CCD Mr. Anyaele hinted.
He was elated to receive the Awards on behalf of the board of trustees of CCD, it’s staff and management.
Other awardee included; The Cerbal Palsy Centre, Federal Nigeria society for the blind, Pacelki School for the blind and partially sighted, Atunda School for physically challenged and mental retarded children, First Bank of Nigeria, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Barrister Abdulsalam Idowu Kamaldeen.
Founded in United Kingdom in 2016, NADA is an award that celebrates the achievement of people with disabilities and service providers.
