Jewel Care Foundation (JCF) in Gombe, on Saturday, empowered 200 less privileged women and youths with physical disability to ease their sufferings.
The board chairman of the foundation, Alhaji Hamisu Saulawa, said the foundation under the leadership of the First Lady of Gombe State, Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, distributed palliatives to over 3, 000 women last week across the 11 local government areas in the state before empowering more women and people with disabilities.
Saulawa enjoined the beneficiaries not to sell the items given to them because the purpose for which the items were given was to make them self-reliant.
In his vote of thanks, the Chairman of Joint National Association for Persons with Disabilities of Gombe State, on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Ali Goro, thanked the wife of the governor for the gesture.
The items distributed include 200 sewing machines, 100 clippers, 100 grinding machines and 112 tricycles for persons with disabilities.
