Human Trafficking: CCD Seeks Partnership With NAPTIP To Scale Up Intervention On PWDs

Centre for Citizens With Disabilities (CCD) has seek partnership with National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to scale up their intervention towards the Human Trafficking related challenges faced by Persons With Disabilities.

This call was made on Tuesday 4th of July 2023 when CCD team led by the Executive Director, David Anyaele paid a courtesy visit to the office of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in Abuja.

The visit was aimed at scaling up interventions on the issues and challenges faced by persons with disabilities as it concerns trafficking in persons and also improve the already existing relationship between CCD and NAPTIP.

Engaging the NAPTIP team, Mr. David Anyaele emphasized that persons with disabilities are vulnerable to trafficking, with pregnant women with disabilities being targeted through false promises. He expressed the Organisation’s intention to partner with NAPTIP in curtailing the ugly trends.

Specifically, CCD would generate data on the pattern and prevalence on trafficking of PWDs in Nigeria as well as conduct sensitization and awareness progrmames.

In response, Prof. Fatima Waziri-Azi , the Director-General of NAPTIP expressed appreciation for the visit and highlighted Agency past and ongoing efforts to mainstream disability into its programmes and activities.

The courtesy visit was such a beautiful and fruitful experience, paving the way for a promising collaboration that will greatly benefit the disability community.
