Group raises public awareness on health, nutrition and wellness for PWDs, Youths

It’s a must for all to learn healthy habits and lifestyles that helps us prevent and cure diseases in the most affordable way.

Mrs Betty O. Folarin Akinlosotu, integrative nutrition and health specialist from the United States of America was the facilitator at the event: theme! “Healthy foods and healthy habits” organized by Alhaji Engineer professor sabitu Ariyo Olagoke, Rosul Sha-Fahudeen(JP)

She said: “she was so delighted when she received Professor sabitu Ariyo Sha-fahudeen(JP) call she will be the guest speaker of the program” jokingly Mrs Betty said she’s the adopted last born of Baba and happy always working with him.

Furthermore she discussed extensively on diet and nutrition. Nutrition is the act of obtaining food and utilizing it by any organism. Nutrition is one of the key processes of obtaining energy from food, that’s why we need to eat good quality healthy food. Food is not about quantity it’s about quality.

Mind you, if you eat wrongly you will fall sick. Mrs Betty O. Folarin Akinlosotu, also Said “nutrition comes from balance diet. Good nutrition gives a long lifespan and makes us looking younger with shining body till death. Nutrition Vocabulary: Protein: are essential nutrients for the human body. They are one of the building blocks of body tissue and can also serve as fuel source. As a fuel, protein provides as much energy density as carbohydrates.

Calorie: is a unit of energy. Energy people get from food and drink they consume and the energy they use.

Metabolism: is the process by which our body converts what we eat and drink onto energy.

During this complex process, Calories in food beverages are.

Fats: is an important part of a healthy diet. Choose foods with good unsaturated fats, limit foods high in saturated fat and avoid bad trans fat.

Nutrient: is a substance obtained from food and used in the body to promote growth,maintenance and repair of body tissues.

However, Mrs Betty urged people with disabilities and all to stop eating heavy food before going to bed at night because the food won’t digest it can leads to disease in our body, reducing too much intake of sugar, local bread and much garri it causes diabetes. Also we should take more of vitamin C to boost our immune systems and eats more of fruits with vegetables.

Limit fried chicken, fish and meat but at least try to eat one or two eggs per day it’s good for the brain.

Please don’t eat fruits while eating food, only eat fruits one hour before or after eating our meals.
