The Inclusive Friends Association (IFA), and Women in Politics Forum (WIPF) on behalf of the Governance Agenda for Inclusive Nigeria (GAIN) partners paid a congratulatory visit to the Plateau State Governor-elect, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang.
The team reminded His Excellency of his commitment to the implementation of the provisions of the #GAIN document, which includes domesticating the National Inclusive Education Policy and where such policy already exists, increasing the funding allocated to the education of children with disabilities in the state at least by 20% annually, and supporting place programs and mechanisms to protect women and children with disabilities from gender-based violence and other related offenses.
On the national level, the #GAIN document recommends a waiver on import duties concerning the importation of assistive devices for persons with disabilities, thereby making it affordable.
It further calls on the National Assembly members to commit to a champion tax rebate for employers complying with the 5% disability quota as incentives through an act of parliament.
IFA through #GAIN seeks to see a Nigeria where Persons with Disabilities are given an enabling environment where they can maximize their potential and contribute to the development of the country.
