The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Mr. James David Lalu has been honoured with an Outstanding performance Award
The ES was given the Award when he received in audience the National
Leadership of the Youth and Civil Society Coalition for Development (YCSCD)in his office on Tuesday, 7th September, 2021.
The group led by its National President, Mr. Aminu Aminu came on a social visit and also at the behest of the Jigawa State Chapter of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, (JONAPWD).
In his welcome remarks, the ES expressed his gratitude to the group for bearing the goodwill message from JONAPWD Jigawa State. He apologized for his inability to visit Jigawa State due to his busy schedules.
He also assured them of the Commission’s commitment and willingness to work with willing partners especially JONAPWD Jigawa State to ensure that a State Commission is established in Jigawa in the time.
Mr Lalu reiterate that President Buhari led Administration has demonstrated tremendous commitment to the well-being of PWDs in Nigeria
He thanked the team for coming and pledged to support JONAPWD Jigawa to better the lives of Persons with Disabilities in the State
Earlier in his speech, the President of YCSCD, Comrade Aminu Aminu extolled the efforts and achievements of the ES since his assumption of office and lauded the progress which he has been making in the stride to ensure that PWDs are well catered for and provided ampled opportunities to thrive.
Aminu said that he was elated at the chance to sit with the ES and identify strongly with the Commission as it steered the affairs of the Nigerian disability Community, stressing that the YCSCD would be glad to support the work that the Commission is mandated to accomplish.
Comrade Aminu also stated that his organization had organized a Career Guidance and counselling training program in collaboration with NITDA, and the Jigawa State Government in mid September and had quite a number of PWDs in attendance, many of whom were quite expectant of the ES. He said that the JIGAWA State Chapter of JONAPWD had intended to seize the ES’ visit to present him with an award.
He however stated that the team were present today to present the said Award on behalf of JONAPWD Jigawa Chapter. He hereafter presented an Award of Outstanding performance to the ES for his sterling performance since he took office at the helm of affairs at the Commission.
