Lalu commended the group for representing the community of women with disabilities and making their voices heard against all odds. He equally mentioned that the Commission has created Women and Gender Unit for substantial representation on feminine issues.
Earlier in his remarks, Lalu hinted that “when a woman is empowered, the community is invariably empowered”.
He further assured that year 2022 will open vistas of multiple empowerment programmes that will see women economically viable.
In an appreciative mood, the Executive Director, Advocacy for Women with Disabilities Initiative, Mrs. Patience Ogolo Dickson thanked the ES for receiving the group despite his busy schedule.
She, therefore, seized the occasion to inform the meeting of their planned National Conference on Women with Disabilities which will come up before the end of this year.
Dickson underscored the importance of having the NCPWD as the core driver of the programme since it is within the commission’s jurisdiction.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of Art
works produced by group to the Executive Secretary.
