Following an eventful year 2020/2021 full of uncertainties as a result of the global pandemic occasioned by the novel corona virus known as COVID-19, Disability Not A Barrier Initiative (DINABI) was the center of attraction as the organization was yesterday awarded with Ekiti Future Award in the Civil Society Organizations category at the 3rd Annual Ekiti Future Summit and Awards in Ado-Ekiti.
The glamorous event hosted by OAPs Waju-Akin Emmanuel (Dynamo) and Simi Williams of Voice FM held at AB Hotel, Ado-Ekiti witnessed influx of people from all works of life including Entrepreneurs, On Air Personalities, Politicians, Agripreneur, IT Specialists, Activists and a host of others.
According to the organizer of the event led by Mr. Olusola Adeoti, the summit is an annual program that aim to celebrate organizations, individuals or businesses that went out of their comfort zone to make life better for others. He said DINABI was specifically voted as a recipient following their various COVID-19 Lockdown Interventions such as awareness creation, advocacy programs, Palliative distribution, Sensitizations etc for persons with disabilities during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
The Executive Director of DINABI, Engr. Olajide Funso who received the award on behalf of the organization, said the organization is truly honoured to have received such an award despite an array of other organizations who have done excellently well in the last one year. He said further that he didn’t know that their activities are being watched and monitored. He expressed the organizations gratitude and resolve to do more to bring comfort to millions of persons with disabilities in Nigeria and Ekiti in particular. He dedicated the award to the entire DINABI Team and JONAPWD Ekiti state.
Ekiti Future Summit & Award was launched in 2019 and it has since become a household name in Ekiti state and its environ.
