Mr. Biodun Olugbade, a wheelchair user was kept stranded on Sunday by Dana air at Lagos airport when they refused to issue him a ticket for a flight reservation he made on Friday to fly with Dana to Abuja on Saturday but the flight was cancelled.
In a statement sent to TQM where he was explaining his ordeal, “I made a flight reservation on Dana air for Friday to return to Abuja on Saturday June 12 2021. Saturday’s flight was cancelled. On Sunday June 13, 2021 (today) on getting to the airport, they (Dana airline) refused to issue a ticket to me and asked me to get an accompanying assistant. I got another passenger to help me on board but, they still refused to issue ticket to me because I am on a wheelchair.
I was left stranded trying to get a flight back to Abuja, because most of the flights were already fully booked. I eventually got on Airpeace with great attention and care given to me”.
He promised not to allow the matter die down like others.
TQM is asking how an airline that once got an award for being an inclusive airline would develop anti persons with disabilities policy and have been unrepentant in discriminating against persons with disabilities especially those on wheelchair.
We want to use this opportunity to call on the National Commission for Persons with disabilities to pay a visit to Dana Air and find out the reason behind this very unfortunate policy and see how it can be reserved.
