In his unending strive to set all modalities moving geared towards the realization of the mandate of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, The Executive Secretary, registered his presence at A two (2) day National Stakeholders consultative forum Organized by Inclusive friends and sponsored by Save the children, in partnership with the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities to deliberate on the way forward for persons with disabilities in the area of certification and identification. The 2- day forum scheduled for 14th and 15th of April 2021 in Abuja.

In his welcome Address the ES identified with all participants especially inclusive friends for gathering stakeholders for a brainstorming session of such magnitude. Their unrelenting partnership with the Commission for the full benefits of the Disability Community was not left out in his Speech.

According to the ES, there is no better time to address and deliberate on the issue of Disabilities certificate or identification card than now. Hence opening the doors to the fundamental human right that was denied to them over the years.

The ES further stressed the need for concrete Disability register that will aid the Commission in delivering its mandates

Some Stakeholders in their contribution appreciated the organizers for the bold steps taken towards achieving clarity and transparency in attaining the mandates and rights of Persons with Disabilities. The ES was applauded his laudable strides towards ensuring that Persons with Disabilities secured a better future.

It is believed that at the end of the deliberation and brainstorming, Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria will have a means of identification to unlock the locked glories.

The forum continued with presentation of papers from stakeholders and interactive sessions with persons with disabilities.
