The Beautiful Gate Handicap People Center Jos has commended the management of Jay FM Jos for making its Office complex accessible to Wheelchair Users.
In a statement issued by the Director, Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos, Chief Ayuba Gufwan Burki and made available to journalists in Jos the Plateau State Capital, the organization express joy seeing the great redesigning of Jay FM Office Complex in the manner that provides access to persons using Wheelchairs which is not the case with many public and private establishments.
Director, Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos, Chief Ayuba Gufwan Burki on behalf of the organization urged other media Stations and organisations to borrow a leaf from Jay FM and make their offices friendly to wheelchair users. In so doing, it will give them sense of belonging and increase their self confidence.
In line with the National Disability Act of 2018 mandating all organizations to make access possible to persons with disabilities in their premises, the organization called on all organizations to adhere strictly to the Act.
They appeal to government at all levels, nongovernmental organizations and well spirited individuals to accord greater attention and support to persons living with disabilities by providing the fit and conducive environment in order for them to develop themselves and achieve their full potentials at appreciable level.
They admonish the general public to discontinue all forms of discrimination, prejudice and stigmatization of persons living with disabilities as it is not their making to be facing the predicament. They are persons with talents, gifts and abilities that must be harnessed in a fit environment for socioeconomic wellbeing.
The organization expressed optimism that things will change for the better while looking forward to witnessing policies, programmes and activities that will cater for persons with disabilities being pursued by policy makers and key actors in the Nation.
