TQM report,
The leadership of APC youths, women and Persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the north east zone organized a stakeholders meeting on Monday in Bauchi at Bauchi North East Zonal Secretariat of APC.
At the end of the meeting, they released communique that arose from their resolutions at the meeting after a daylong meeting. The contents of the communique as they were sent to TQM are as follows:
The group registered their profound gratitude to H.E PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI (GCFR) for treating the northeast zone special attention and consideration with regards to security, economy and social development of note;
1) The establishment and adequate funding of the North East Development Commission(NEDC)
2) Appointment of illustrious sons and daughters of northeast zone in to critical and special officers in government
3)Improving the fight against Boko Haram and other forms of security challenges that hitherto bedevil the zone
4) Commitment to oil and gas exploration in Kolmani and other frontiers in Bauchi and Gombe
5) The commitment towards actualizing the Mambila Hydro Electric power project in Taraba state.
The group called on Mr. President to continue with the good work in the north east zone and they urged me to accept these important projects such as:
- a) The mambila hydro-power plan.
- b) Implementation of the Eastern corridor rail project from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri
The group also congratulated the APC National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Committee Chairman, Gov. Maimala Buni and his team on the successes recorded since coming onboard with particular reference to;
a) Building consensus among party members by setting up reconciliation committees at different levels of the party and in different state.
b) Facilitating the defection of 3 executive governors from the opposition PDP to the APC and notable political heavy weight into the party
c)Actualizing the maiden progressive youth conference
d) Peaceful conduct of the ongoing party congress
They passed a vote of confidence on Gov. Maimala Buni and his entire team
The third area they looked at was Agenda setting for the group as regards to the newly established Northeast Development Commission (NEDC).
They resolved to setup a committee to determine the stake of APC youths, women and PWDs in the affair of NEDC.
They called on the management of NEDC to involve and carry along the party in their programmes.
The Communique was duly signed by APC Northeast Leaders covering the youths, women and persons with disabilities.
